heart, lungs, liver, kidney, pancreas, pancreatic islet cells, small bowel, stomach

A
cornea, sclera, heart valves, skin, bone, tendons, amniotic tissue

A
severe brain damage and life maintained on ventilator until organ collection, no age limit, must not have malignencies or HIV

A
birth to 80yrs old, no infectious diseases, no active sepsis, no high risk social behaviors

A
1-2%

A
kidney, liver, amniotic sac, thigh bone following hip replacement

What is the basic process for organ procurement
A
- death confirmed
- family offered option
- donor coordinator speaks to family (explains process, consent, history)
- blood samples taken
- organs matched with recipients
- go to operating room (organs then tissues)
- released to funeral home
