Lecture 16 - X-Rays Flashcards
What is attenuation?
Reduction of X-Ray Intensity when X-rays are absorbed by the body
What is the densest and least densest material in body?
Bones are densest
Soft tissue is least dense
Give an example of why low density occurs for areas which should have high density?
Air entering certain organs/cavities of the body.
How do you systematically interpret X-rays?
What type of film - What it shows
Which way round?
Adequacy - Can you see what you need to? Images have certain requirements
What terms do we use for determining the way round of an x-ray? (6)
Superior - From Top Anterior - From Front Posterior - From Back Inferior - From Bottom Medial - Towards midline Lateral - Away from midline
Name and describe the 3 planes.
Transverse/Axial Plane - Horizontal
Sagittal Plane - Vertical (face halved)
Coronal Plane - Vertical (anterior/posterior halved)
