Lecture 15 - Deep Back Muscles Flashcards
What are the the superficial muscles of the back?
L15 S21
- trapezius
- latissimus dorsi
- levator scapulae
- rhomboideus major
- rhomboideus minor
What are the intermediate muscles of the back?
L15 S21
- serratus posterior superior
- serratus posterior inferior
What are the deep/intrinsic muscles of the back?
L15 S21
Superficial:
- splenius capitis
- splenius cervicis
Intermediate:
- iliocosatlis
- longissimus
- spinalis
Deep:
- semispinalis
- multifidus
- rotatores
What are the three divisions of the throacolumbar fascia?
L15 S28
Posterior lamina:
-attaches to spinous process
Middle lamina:
-attaches to lumbar transverse process
Anterior lamina:
-attaches to lumbar transverse process
What are the different systems formed from the intrinsic muscles of the back? What do these groups do?
Spinotransversalis (superficial intrinsic):
-run laterally and upward to attach to transversprocesses and skull
Sacrospinalis (intermediate intrinsic):
-run longitudinally upward and attach to transverse processes, ribs, and spinous processes
Transverospinalis (deep intrinsic)
-run laterally and insert medially
