what happens during neurulation?
A
neural induction occurs which gives rise to the NEURAL PLATE. this begins with formation of plate of thicker cells
part of this plate elevates, forming an M-shape; peaks are called NEURAL FOLDS; they rise and connect forming the NEURAL TUBE
cells at neural crest detach from tube and plate (neural crest cells contribute to PNS)
the neural plate contains neuroepithelial cells (stem cells of the nervous system)
neural crest cells form dorsally to neural tube and undergo EMT
