Lecture 10 Flashcards
know the pathway of the heart
layers of the heart outer to inner
pericardium, pericardial cavity, epicardium, myocardium, endocardium
pericardium
At the vessels,
epicardium reflects back,
forming the parietal layer of
pericardium.
endocardium
endothelium & subendothelium CT - continue
into vessels, a deeper layer of CT, subendocardial layer binds to
myocardium (this where Purkinje fibers are found)
myocardium
cardiac
muscle, thicker in
ventricles than in atria
epicardium
(aka: visceral layer of serous pericardium):
single layer of mesothelium on exposed surface, CT and
adipose underneath. Surface is smooth, moist, slippery
impulse conducting system
Impulse Conducting System:
Purkinje fibers, modified cardiac
muscle fibers
Sino-atrial (SA) node
junction
superior vena cava and rt.
Atrium
Atrio-ventricular (AV) node
medial wall right atrium
sa node cell
purpose of valves
Prevent backflow of blood; aid in moving
blood toward heart, a fold of T. interna, Well represented in limbs, usually in pairs
go over sheep heart
