- Patient safety, keep integrity of profession, mainly to protect the public!!
- They are more there to protect the patient, not the professional

Professional:
- Assess physical function limitations and disabilities related to the neurological, musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary systems
- Determine a treatment plan
- Apply treatment in order to obtain optimal functional performance
Reserved:
- Assess neuromusculoskeletal function (physical function limitation/disability)
- Functional assessment
- Introduce instrument or finger in the human body beyond the labia majora or anal margin (perineal reeducation)
- Introduce instrument in the human body in and beyond the pharynx or the nasal vestibule (chest physio)
- Use invasive forms of energy (electrotherapy)
- Provide treatment for wounds
- Make decisions as to the use of restraint measures
- Insert needles under the dermis to reduce inflammation (Certification)
- Perform spinal and joint manipulations (Certification)

Through:
- Professional Inspection Committee (PIC)
- Syndic
what is the Professional Inspection Committee (PIC) and what is the main criteria under analysis?
Mandate:
–Ensure the competence of all members
–Oversee Professional Practice
–Inform the syndic if there is a reason to think that a member could be in contravention of professional requirements
Main criterion under analysis is competence
How does the PIC evaluate compitence?
Secondary Criteria
Security: precautions/contraindications/red flags?
Objectivity: pertinent, valid and precise tools for evaluation
Efficiency: evaluation of «I» effects with objective demonstration (before and after) and making an appropriate decision about pursuing or ceasing treatment
