How does a thermocouple work?

Answer 3

Two wires of different material is used. By having one side hotter than the other, the electrons start flowing towards the cold end of both wires and start building up there. By having two different materials, the heat conduction is different, meaning the flow will be different. This results in different amount of buildup therefor a voltage potential is created.
