A

Refers to the way individuals perceive or mentally represent the level of distance between themselves and a potential threat or danger

What are the four distances from threat?

A
  1. Psychological distance
    - how an individual mentally perceives the proximity of a threat
  2. Temporal distance
    - perceiving a threat as either immediately or distant in the future
  3. Spatial distance
    - how people perceive the physical space between themselves and a potential threat
  4. Social distance
    - how people perceive the threat in relation to themselves or others
