7
Q

What does relative referencing do

A

automatically enter the cells in the column or row when doing a formula

e.g it will do A1 X B1
A1 X B2
A1 X B3

8
Q

What does ABSOLUTE REFERENCING /FIXING THE REFERENCE do?

A

prevents relative referencing occuring

means something will be x(or operationalised) by the same cell even when drag something down

fixing the value of a particular cell reference.

Q

why would ? x $E2 work

A

E is locked in but as you move down you have E3 , E4 but for the purposes of this case

nothing would be there

Q

what does B2 * $E$2 mean

A

locks E2 in place as the multiplication cell

this means even if you drag down / autofill each cell i.e B3 B4 will be * by E2

Q

what does ? * E$2 mean and when would this be helpful

A

column reference is absolute
row reference is relative

lock a specific column (in this case, column E) while allowing the row number to change as you drag the reference to different cells.
