Syndrome
Complex of symptoms that are indicative of a specific condition, but the direct cause of those symptoms are unknown.
Clinically significant disturbance
Introduced in DSM-III; inclusive of this term served to reduced false positives
Dysfunction
Deviation from the statistical norm.

Opening Aim
To covey essential information, to obtain informed consent, to alleviate anxiety, to develop rapport, and to set the tone of the interview
Body Aim
Most variable section; defined by the depth, breadth and structure of the assessment. Is a process of information gathering, where hypotheses are formed, refined and a complete picture is developed
Close Aim
Summarisation of the main themes of the interview, address any questions or concerns, and discuss next steps
