What is DPD?
DPD - Depersonalisation disorder
What is Depersonalisation disorder?
persistent or recurrent episodes of “detachment” or “estrangement” from oneself, ones body, or ones emotions.
why DPD leads to a sense of unreality?
because it involves a changed overall experience in self-awareness
Examples of DPD?
4 examples!
1) emotional numbness
2) feel detached like a robot
3) feeling cut off from self and surroundings
4) feels like a dream; living in own bubble.
What is the difference between Depersonalisation and Derealization?
no diff, both are same and valid BUT
DPD - is oneself and body
DR - ones surrounding and environment
What is autonomic blunting?
feelings of emotional numbness

where the world no longer feels “real”. An alteration in the perception or experience of the world to the extent that it no longer seems real.
What can can co-occur with depersonalisation.?
DR - derealization
Why does the world no longer feel real?
due to alteration in a persons perception or experience of the world
What is Estrangement from the surroundings / world?
DR - derealization
What is Estrangement from the self?
DPD - depersonalization
many people experience an instance of DP/DR at some point in their lives due to?
- bereavement
- sudden and unexpected life events
- witnessing traumatic events
- anxiety
- victim of violence
