hand soaps, iodines
category of something that penetrates soft tissue, bone, or enters blood stream like scalpel, burs, periodontal scalers
critical
category including mirror, condenser, impression trays, handpieces that contact mucous membranes but don’t penetrate tissue or touch blood
semicritical
category that contacts skin like blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, radiograph head
noncritical
