Lec 7 Flashcards
Gives rise to exocrine gland
The epithelial down growth may remain connected to the epithelial layer from which it originated
Exocrine glands include
salivary glands, mammary glands, sweat glands, sebaceous glands, liver and pancreas
Gives rise to endocrine gland
The epithelial down growth may degenerate, leaving the secretory tissue isolated from its parent epithelial layer
Exocrine gland: development
Epithelial outgrowths into underlying ct that retain their connection to the overlying epithelium in the form of one or more ducts
Endocrine gland: Development
epithelial outgrowths into underlying ct that lose their connection to the overlying epithelium. these glands lack ducks and must secrete their product (hormone) directly into surrounding blood vessels
Classification of glands
Unicellular or multicellular; or simpe or coumpound based ductal branching
-based on secretory portion: Tubular, Alveolar (acinar) Tubuloacinar
