What is the main difference between using router and switch?

A

Switch: Connects two or more computers to form a network (LAN)
Router: Connects networks together (ex: connect LAN with WAN)

4 Types of computer networks (categorized according to size)

A

PAN: Personal area network, range of few meters, bluetooth devices etc.
LAN: Local area network, usually network inside single building, for home or small business
MAN: Metropolitan Area Network, for city, spanning 1-30 kilometers
WAN: Wide Area Network, for connecting multiple states, companies, the world (internet)
