What is the nerve supply to the oropharnyx
A
1) CN 9: posterior third of the tongue, soft palate, vallecula, tonsils and the anterior surface of the epiglottis and the pharyngeal walls
2) CN 10 –> Superior Laryngeal nn –> external & internal
- -> Recurrent laryngeal nn
- external laryngeal branch innervates the cricothyroid muscle, which tenses the vocal cords
- internal laryngeal branch provides sensory fibers to the cords, posterior surface of the epiglottis, aryepiglottic folds and the arytenoids.
- recurrent laryngeal nerve innervates all the intrinsic muscles of the larynx, except for the cricothyroid muscle, and provides sensory fibers below the vocal folds and trachea

What are 4 stages of anesthesia
A
1) Analgesia
2) Excitement/Delirium: stage lasts from the initial loss of patient consciousness to the onset of regular breathing and loss of lid reflex
3) Surgical –> 4 planes
4) Respiratory paralysis.
