Women can be forced into marriages they do not want to be involved in, are forbidden from some basic rights such as education and work in some nations, and can face difficulties in being legally recognized equally in court.
Why are women targeted?
Sometimes targeted due to cultural practices, other times targeted to keep men in positions of power
Children Violation Example?
Children can be forced to work at very young ages, which prevents them from going to school. Often they are forced to work in dangerous conditions for many hours. In some countries they are forced to be child soldiers.
Why are children targeted?
Sometimes targeted due to loss of parents, because they are less expensive workers, and are less able to defend and protect themselves.
Poor people violation example?
Often the poor work for significantly less money in jobs that are more dangerous. The poor also face discrimination in access to good education, access to good food, and access to quality healthcare.
Why are the poor targeted?
Sometimes targeted due to cultural traditions, also can be targeted due to lack of funds to cause change, and lack of government intervention on behalf of the poor.
Indigenous people violation example?
Indigenous people have their rights violated by often not being allowed to vote or participate in government, by having their land taken away, and by not having access to basic rights such as education and healthcare.
Why are indigenous people targeted?
Sometimes targeted due to ethnic discrimination, and lack of political rights and power to advocate for their people.
