What does the word genesis mean?

The way in which God creates out of nothing

God creates light and separates it from darkness, creating night and day

God brings the water together to let dry land appear, and upon it, he creates vegetation and trees

And what does religion help us to understand?
Science tells us how the universe was created, however religion tells us the universes purpose

Moses parted the Red Sea allowing the Hebrews to cross, when the Egyptians tried to pursue the Hebrews, the waters were closed eliminating the Pharoahs army and keeping the Hebrews safe, the pillar of clouds kept the Egyptian army from reaching the Hebrews

Why can Jesus be described as the New covenant?
Because:
-Jesus is God made man, who creates a new relationship between God and Humanity
-Jesus used the last supper, a Seder meal, to show that he was the new sign of God’s covenant with the people
-Jesus is the saviour sent to frees us from sin
Why are the 10 commandments still important for us today?
Because:
-The Commandments are about love of God and one another, which is just as important today
-Some of the commandments are about avoiding killing, stealing and lying. These are actions that should be avoided

It is when the subtans (essence) of an object is changed but the accidens (how it appears to the senses) remains the same

He reminded the people of God’s love and goodness

He urged people to show kindness to the poor

He proclaimed the coming of the messiah and his kingdom
