Preserving wine

A

Vacuum system: Pump that removes air from bottle.
Blanket system: Inserting inert gas(i.e. Argon or Nitrogen), which is heavier than air to preserve the wine. It creates a blanket over the wine, blocking oxygen from contacting the wine.

  1. Cut foil below the lip
  2. Insert corkscrew and rotate until worm is almost in.
  3. Pull cork out to reduce breakage

Opening sparkling wine

A
  1. Remove foil and loosen cage (turn in 6 times)
  2. Grip bottle neck with thumb over top of the cage and cork
  3. Firmly grip the cork and cage with one hand while rotating the bottom of the bottle with the other hand.
  4. Apple resistance as the cork begins to push out.
  5. Slowing release the cork and cage, holding the bottle at a 45 degree.
