A

What is the difference between formal and informal support?

A

Formal support is care provided by qualified professionals e.g. doctors and nurses. They are trained and specialised in their roles.
Informal supporters are not trained in what they do, and they don’t get paid for their work, for example young carers. Their role may involve things like cleaning, cooking and washing and dressing.

A

P- Stronger immune system, less likely to get ill. Maintain a healthy weight, less at risk of obesity related illness e.g. heart disease.
I- More focused and improved concentration. Less likely to miss work or school if immune system is stronger.
E- Positive self-image if maintaining a healthy weight. Positive attitude.
S- Can have the confidence to get to know new people, may meet people through diet support groups such as weight watchers.
