learning Flashcards
What is classical conditioning?
A process by which we learn to associate stimuli and anticipate events (stimulus is presented before the response)
what are the processes of classical conditioning? (5)
acquisition, extinction, stimulus discrimination, stimulus generalization, and spontaneous recovery
what is operant conditioning?
operant conditioning is when one learns to associate a behavior and its consequence (stimulus is presented after the response)
what is the most effective way to teach a new behavior?
with positive reinforcement
what is negative reinforcement?
an undesirable stimulus is removed to increase a behavior (seatbelt example)
what is latent learning?
learning that has occurred but is not observable until there is a reason to demonstrate it
