it was a civil service that was in charge of administration
how did the LON try and prevent war and keep peace
they set up the permanent international court of justice which was a court of law that settled arguments - judges would fill that position for 11 yrs
how did the LON deal with aggression
they used mitigation which was when countries talked through their problems
what is the ILO
international labour organisation
how many countries met once a year as an assembly
42
what were some weaknesses of the league
it had no army so they could only advice and ask countries and could not threaten them | the USA did not join the league so if countries were sanctions they still had many big countries as trading partners | decisions had to be unanimous
what were some strengths of the league
as there were so many members economic sanctions were daunting punishments for many countries | it was written into the treaties at the end of WW1 so all the nations involved signed that they recognised the organisation
was vilna a complete failure or success and why
failure because vilna had a large polish population so the polish army took control of vilna, lithuania asked LON for help + poland was asked to remove the army but they refused and the LON did nothing about it
