How do you become a swiss guard?

A

You have to be catholic and single male, and have a swiss citizenship. Get millitary training and get the certificate of good conduct. Must be 19 and 30 years of age and 174cm tall

A

A

They stay in the sistine chapel in the annexe and stay there with no contact with the out world until they have chosen a new pope, this process can take days

A

Well in a chimney they will burn the votes (ballots) and if the smoke is black it has not be chosen but if the smoke is white they have chosen the new pope

A

Canonisation is the declaration of a deceased person as an offically recognized saint

What is an encyclical?

A

An encyclical is a papal letter written by the pope and is sent to all the bishops of the catholic church, it is to address issues of concern, point out dangers that might affect the Church or the world.

A

Ordination is a ceremony for someone who is becoming a priest. Catholics believe that the priest’ soul will under go a change which forever marks him as a priest. He given the sacrament of holy orders

What is the order of the canonisation process (sainthood)? Step 1

A

Step 1: the local bishop has to agree to the process of canonisation and from then they are called “servant of god”

A

Step 2: the cause will be sent to rome to a department in th vatican here they determine the heroic sancity , living a life worked by virtuous actions or doing gods work out of love of god and neighbour. Now with the popes decree they are now “venerable”

Step 3: process of beautification, a miracle must’ve happened after their death and they have to be - instantaneous, unexplainable, lasting. Now they can be called “blessed”

Step 4: a feast day is then chosen for a celebration, but after they need proof of a 2nd miracle and if it’s approved by rome they can now be called a “saint”
