Planning Commission
an organized group of people with authority over planning matters. Each government defines their responsibilities.
Board of Zoning Appeals
a quasi-judicial body that reviews the appeal of a zoning decision, rules on ambiguous aspects of the zoning code, and issues rulings regarding variances
City Council
an elected body that makes decisions for a municipality. The council can be headed by a mayor or a rotating chairman.
County Commission
an elected body of officials with both executive and legislative duties. Their power and duties vary, depending on the state and local charter.
Design Committee
body that reviews the architectural features for proposed construction projects. Often advisory in nature, applying the approved design guidelines for a specific geographic area when reviewing applications
City or county manager
a civil servant and not elected. Manages the jurisdictions financial and human resources, oversee the delivery of services to residents and visitors, provide strategic planning for the jurisdiction
Public administration
defined as the implementation of government policy.
