  1. Trait approach: Certain attributes or “traits” can relate to how effective a leader is
  2. Behaviour Approach: focuses on what managers actually do in their jobs
  3. Power - influence approach: Autocratic vs Participative
  4. Situational approach (contingency theory): Different leadership traits, skills and behaviour will be effective in different situations.
  5. Integrative Approach: Using more than one type of the above leadership styles

What is the difference between Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship?

A

Entrepreneurship - a process by which individuals, teams or organisations identify and exploit opportunities for new products or services that satisfy a need in a market.
Intrapreneurship - applying entrepreneurial principles within organisations (for example by giving employees more autonomy, encouraging a culture of risk taking and rewarding intrepreneurial behaviour)

What is the purpose of a mission statement?

A

Johnson, Scholes and Whittington describe an organisation’s mission statement as: “a generalised objective that can be thought of as an expression of the organisation’s reason for existence”. In other words it is what the organisation wants to achieve.
