Autonomy
The right to self-determination, independence, and freedom of choice.
Nonmaleficence
the duty to do no harm and to protect patients from harm by eliminating threats
Fidelity
the obligation to be faithful to commitments made to self and others
Justice
the obligation to be fair and treat people in an equal manner
Laissez-faire
manager provides little structure or direction to a group
Democratic Management
encourages staff to participate in decision making, communicates effectively, offers constructive criticism, and believes in the best in people.
Autocratic Management
characterized by behaviors such as making all decisions without staff input, focusing on completion of task, and limiting access to communication with the manager
Transactional Management
leader focuses on getting work done and the task to be completed.
Outcome Quality Audit
evaluates how the client’s health status changed as a result of an intervention
Structure Quality Audit
evaluates the relationship between quality care and appropriate structure and includes inputs such as the environment where the health care is delivered
Strategic Planning Quality Audit
is done as a part of the planning process. It typically examines the purpose, mission, philosophy, and goals of an organization.
Process Quality Audit
measures the interventions used to facilitate expected and desired outcomes in clients.
Ex). Early ambulation is essential for the prevention of pot op complications.
Outer process
Behavior or action the nurse preforms
Ex) clear communication
Inner process
internal to each person and consist of beliefs, values, and attitudes.
Ex) Trustworthiness, self-awareness, capacity for reflection
Shared Governance
Encourages group collaboration to make shared decisions
