This card in itself is a complete allegory. A mouse (an animal of the earth) leads the wheel of fortune, a man around himself. Next to the wheel is a throne / a withered tree in which a monkey wearing a crown….thus (IGNORANCE is FAVORED BY FORTUNE who forgets the genius in virtue).

Death is represented with all it’s attributes & seems ready to anhilate all that exists - large & small. It is not unintentional that it is placed under # 13. This issue which the ancients regarded as the most unfortunate, probably as a result of a disastrous experience. Would it not for this reason that the 13 Hebrew tribes only counted 12.
