  • First Vision in 1820 and then visited by the angel Moroni in 1823
  • Married Emma Hale
  • Father of 9 children and adopted 2. Only 5 of the 11 children survived to adulthood.
  • Translated the Book of Mormon, the Bible, the Book of Abraham and The Book of Moses
  • Organized the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
  • Received numerous revelations on the organization of the church, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the Plan of Salvation
  • Organized the School of the Prophets
  • Sent the apostles to England
  • Martyred at Carthage, Ill. on June 27, 1844

Brigham Young

A
  • Born in June 1801, in Whitingham, Vermont.
  • Joined the church in 1832, and three years later was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
  • Led the migration west in 1846–47 to the Rocky Mountains and founded Salt Lake City.
  • Sustained as President of the Church on December 27, 1847.
  • Served as Territorial Governor of Utah
  • Died in August, 1877
