Joseph Smith Jr.
- Born in Dec. 1805 in Sharon, Vermont
- First Vision in 1820 and then visited by the angel Moroni in 1823
- Married Emma Hale
- Father of 9 children and adopted 2. Only 5 of the 11 children survived to adulthood.
- Translated the Book of Mormon, the Bible, the Book of Abraham and The Book of Moses
- Organized the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
- Received numerous revelations on the organization of the church, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the Plan of Salvation

Brigham Young
- Born in June 1801, in Whitingham, Vermont.
- Joined the church in 1832, and three years later was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
- Led the migration west in 1846–47 to the Rocky Mountains and founded Salt Lake City.
- Sustained as President of the Church on December 27, 1847.
- Served as Territorial Governor of Utah
- Died in August, 1877
