LCE fundamentals Flashcards
Describe a Logistics Combat Element (LCE)
Task organized to provide the full range of combat services support (CSS) necessary to accomplish the MAFGT mission.
What does the LCE provide
Supply, maintenance, transportation, deliberate engineering, health, dental, postal, disbursing, prisoner of war, information systems, exchange, utilities, legal and graves registrations service
Define (CSS)
Essentials capabilities, functions, activities and tasks necessary to sustain all elements of operating forces in theater at all levels of war on the battlefield
What does the CSS support
Supports aspects of supply, maintenance, transportation, health services and other services required by the MAGTF
Define LTI
Equipment inspection that are limited in scope and objective
What is the purpose of an LTI
Inspect equipment condition to determine the extent and level of maintenance required to restore it to a specified condition or to check for serviceability status
What is a Table of Authorized Material (TAM)
the list that was taped on the freight
A source document of information for logistics planning
What are the items listed on the TAM
Three supply types of material: Subsistence and petroleum, oils and lubricants
What is a Table of Equipment (T/E)
A document listing the equipment which a unit is required to process and maintain in order to accomplish its mission
What is a Table of Organization (T/O)
A document which provides the authority for personnel staffing of a unit and the basis for all other resources
What does a T/O contain
A unit’s mission, organization, concept of employment, administrative capabilities, and logistics capabilities
Define Logistics
The science of planning and carrying out the movement and maintenance of forces
What are the three levels of logistic support
Strategic, Operational, Tactical
Discuss the three levels of logistic support
Strategic: the level of war which a nation determines national or multinational (alliance or coalition)
Operation: the level of war at which campaigns and major operations are planned conducted and detained to accomplish strategic objectives
Tactical: the level of war at which battles and engagements are planned and executed
State the six functional areas of tactical logistics
SUPPLY: a cyclic process of acquiring and issuing material to support units
MAINTENANCE : involves those actions taken to keep material in serviceable condition
TRANSPORTATION: moving from one location to another
GENERAL ENGINEERING: (LCE function)
HEALTH SERVICES: seems to minimize the effect that wounds, injuries, and disease have on unit effectiveness, readiness and morale
SERVICES: provides for the effective administration, management, and employment of military organizations
How many principles are there to logistics support
7 principles
Discuss one of the seven principles of logistics support
Responsiveness: the right support in the right place at the right time
Discuss one of the seven principles of logistics support
Simplicity: fosters efficiency in both the planning and execution of logistics operations
Discuss one of the seven principles of logistics support
Economy: providing sufficient support at the least cost without impairing mission accomplishment or jeopardizing lives
Discuss one of the seven principles of logistics support
Flexibility: the ability to adapt logistics structure and procedures to changing situations, missions, and concepts of operations
Discuss one of the seven principles of logistics support
Attainability: is the ability to provide the minimum, essential supplies and services required to begin combat operations
Discuss one of the seven principles of logistics support
Sustainability: the ability to maintain logistics support to all users through the area of operations for the duration of the operation
