LBBB, RBBB, Bifascicular, Trifascicular Block Flashcards
1
Q
Will the QRS be wide or short in BBB?
A
WIDE
- The wave of depolarisation has to travel from the opposite ventricle to depolarise muscle supplied by the bundle branch that is blocked
2
Q
What is the blockage of RBB and LBB equivalent to?
A
- Equivalent to blocking the AVN/Bundle of His and leads to complete heart block
3
Q
What is the pattern for RBBB?
A
- Wide QRS
- POSITIVE V1
- Slurred S wave in lead I and V6
4
Q
What are causes for RBBB?
A
- Can be a normal variant
- Disease of the right side of the heart eg pulmonary pathology or PE
5
Q
What is the pattern for LBBB?
A
- Wide QRS
- NEGATIVE V1
- Monophasic QRS in lead I and V6
6
Q
What is bifascicular block?
A
- Always RBBB
If also:
Left anterior block - Left axis deviation
Left posterior block - Right axis deviation
7
Q
What is trifascicular block?
A
- As bifasciciular block
PLUS
Prolonged PR interval (AV node blocked aswell)
