Solicitor’s Role
A
- majority of qualified solicitors work in private practice in a firm (about 80,000).
- a further 40,000 work in other careers (Crown Prosecution Service, Local Authorities, Government Agencies).
- solicitors in private practice can work as a sole practitioner or in a partnership (about 10,000 firms of solicitors).
- solicitors in law firms will initially be associate/assistant solicitors and then may progress to be a junior partner.
- have direct access to clients and are often compared to GP’s in medical profession, they will often then refer specialist work and advocacy to barristers.
