Laws Of Chemical Combinations Flashcards
Law of Conservation of Mass
Mass of reactants = Mass of products
Law of definite proportions
Compound will contain same proportions (when weight is same) irrespective of method of preparation.
Eg :-
Natural CO2 :-
C% - 27.27
O% - 72.72
Synthetic CO2 (same wt as natural) :-
C% - 27.27
O% - 72.72
Law of multiple proportions
If 2 elements form more than one compound then, mass of one element that combine with fixed mass of other element are in simple whole no. ratio
Eg
H2O :-
H - 2g
O - 16g
H2O2 :-
H - 2g
O - 32g
Gay Lusaac’s Law
Gases combine or produced in a simple whole no. ratio while temp and pressure are constant
Avagadro’s Law
Equal volume of gases at same temp contain equal no. of molecules
