Precedent
Court decision on a legal question that guides decisions` in future cases presenting similar questions
Bills
A proposed law being considered by a legislature
Legislative Intent
What the lawmaker who wrote passed the law wanted the law to mean. If the language is unclear, judges will f often look at the legislative intent to understand the law
Agencies
Authorize administrative agencies to develop rules and regulations to make laws more specific
Public Hearings
Proceedings that are open to the public
Trials
A court proceeding
Appellate Courts
A court in which appeals from trial court decisions are heard
Supremacy Clause
US laws and treaties must be followed even if states and local laws disagree with the constitution or treaties

The legal process in which one country or state asks another to surrender a suspected or convicted criminal

The active support of a cause
Initiative
A procedure by which voters can propose a law and submit it to the electorate or the legislative for approval

The removal of an elected official from office by the vote of the people

Influencing or persuading legislature to take action to introduce a bill or vote a certain way on a proposed law
