Abrasion
A type of a open wound that’s caused by the skin rubbing against a rough surface.
Avulsion
The sudden separation of land from one property and its attachment to another, especially by flooding or a change in the course of a river.
Laceration
A deep cut or tear in skin or flesh.
Amputation
The action of surgically cutting off a limb.
Emesis
The action or process of vomiting.
Epistaxis
Bleeding from the nose.
Puncture
A small hole in something such as the skin, caused by a sharp object.
Sprain
The result of a wrench or twist of the ligaments of a joint.
Simple Fracture
The bone is broken, but the skin is intact
Compound Fracture
A fracture in which there is an open wound or break in the skin near the site of the broken bone.
Cardiac arrest
A sudden cessation of function of the heart.
Bone Fracture
A complete or partial break in a bone.
1st degree burn
Affect only the outer layer of skin.
2nd degree burn
Affect the lower layer of skin.
3rd degree burn
Affect the innermost layer of the skin
Seizure
A sudden attack of illness, especially a stroke or an epileptic fit.
Shock
A sudden upsetting or surprising event or experience.
Stroke
Occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or reduced
Hemorrhage
An escape of blood from a ruptured blood vessel, especially when profuse.
Hypovolemia
A decreased volume of circulating blood in the body.
Heat stroke
When the body becomes unable to control its temperature
Hypothermia
Condition of having an abnormally low body temperature, typically one that is dangerously low
Hypoglycemia
Deficiency of glucose in the bloodstream.
Hyperglycemia
An excess of glucose in the bloodstream
Frost bite
Injury caused by freezing of the skin and underlying tissues.

The machine being used is called a defibrillator, and its use isn’t limited to a hospital setting.
Ventricular Fibrillation
A dangerous type of arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat.

A fast, abnormal heart rate
Triangular Bandage
A cravat, or triangle bandage, is a basic first aid item.
R.I.C.E. Treatment
Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation for pain and swelling
Recovery Position
A person is unconscious but is breathing and has no other life-threatening conditions, they should be placed in the recovery position.
Hematoma
Generally defined as a collection of blood outside of blood vessels.
