Law and Motion Flashcards
Speed
acceleration or a high rate of motion.
Average Speed
The average speed of an object is the total distance traveled by the object divided by the elapsed time to cover that distance.
Inertia
The resistance to change
Force
A physical energy that can be seen or felt.
Distance
The amount of space between two objects.
Acceleration
The act of increasing speed
Instantaneous
Happening all the time right then
Gravity
Natural force that pulls things to the earth
Reaction
The response to an action
Deceleration
Something that is in movement slowing down
Friction
The rubbing between the surface of two objects
Rest
When an object is not in motion but is resting
Mass
Anything that has shape and weight
Newton’s 1st law of motion
a body remains at rest or in motion with a constant velocity unless acted upon by an external force
Newton’s 2st law of motion
the rate of change of momentum is proportional to the imposed force and goes in the direction of the force
