Which members does the Pharmacy Council consist of?
The Council shall consist of—
-a chairman appointed by the Minister;
-one member, who shall be a representative of the Association (BPA Rep) appointed
by the Minister;
- one member, who shall be a practitioner, appointed by the Minister; and
- four members elected by registered pharmacists from among themselves.
The Council may co-opt a representative of the Bermuda Pharmacy Owners
Association to any of their meetings but such a representative shall NOT have a vote.

What are the functions of the Pharmacy Profession Complaints Committee?
(A) to receive and investigate, or cause to be investigated, complaints against
any registered pharmacist including any allegation that—
- the pharmacist’s registration was improperly obtained;
- the pharmacist is guilty of professional misconduct;
-the pharmacist is unfit to practise by reason of conviction of an
indictable offence or adverse physical or mental health; or
-the pharmacist is otherwise unfit to practise or to be registered; and
(B)to perform such other functions as may be prescribed.
The Committee may investigate any complaint based on..
-inside or outside Bermuda; or
-at any time, whether or not at a time when the person complained against
was registered as a pharmacist.
Who can make a complaint to the committee and what is the process to make a complaint?
It shall be made by the complainant.
or if the complainant is a child or is physically or mentally unable to make
the complaint, by the parent or guardian, friend or a person acting on
behalf of the complainant; and
if the conduct complained of relates to a person who is dead, by the
person’s executor or personal representative;
The complaint should be in writing and addressed to the Committee;
should set out the matters alleged to constitute grounds for disciplinary
action to be taken against the pharmacist who is the subject of the
complaint;
it may be required by the Committee to be in a form approved by the
Committee.
What is the investigation process of a complaint by the committee?
If complaint is not resolved,
The committee should investigate and see if it is frivolous or vexatious, is made in bad faith, is an abuse of process, or for
any other reason, ought not to be referred to the Council; or
ought to be referred to the Council for decision

Domicillary Nurses - but the CDs should be obtained by domicillary nurse supply orders and signed by CMO
In order for the CMO to sign the Dom Nurse signed order for Sch 1+ 2 CDs, they must contain..
- the exact quantity specified on order
- enter drug name, date, name + address of supplier, form and quantity
- keep drugs locked away and the dom nurse is the only key holder
- she must state she’s a dom nurse and the purpose for use is required.
What are the requirements on giving CD to someone other than recipient? (When supplying other than on Rx)
Can only give to someone sent on BEHALF of recipient if the recipient states in WRITING that they are allowed
The Requisition in writing must state: SIGNATURE of recipient Name, address, occupation of rec PURPOSE of drug being supplied TOTAL QUANTITY
