A specification which is NECESSARY for the safety or regularity of international air navigation.
Contracting states WILL conform to standards.
It is COMPULSORY t notify the ICAO council if compliance is not possible.
In regard to ICAO SARPS, what is a Recommended practice?
A specification which is DESIRABLE for the safety or regularity of international air navigation.
Contracting states WILL ENDEAVOUR to conform to a Recommended Practice.
It is NOT COMPULSORY to notify the ICAO council if compliance is not possible, but states are invited to.
What do PANS contain?
They contain operating practices and material too detailed for SARPs.
What are SUPPs?
The ICAO is made up of 9 geographic regions to cater for different types of flying operations. So SUPPs contain procedures which are relevant to the specified regions.
