Define Civil Law and give examples
Civil laws deals with non-criminal disputes between individuals or groups eg. Finding decomposed snail in a soft drink

Define Criminal Law and give examples
Criminal Laws protects the community from the harm of others eg. Murder, Robbery, Rape
How do we vote
We vote using a secret ballot so no can see who you are voting for
Place #1 on who you want the most
Is it compulsory to vote
No but you have to be over 18 and if you fail to vote then you will get a fine of $50
Magistrates Court Explain and example
This court deals with both criminal and civil crimes but the less serious ones
Supreme Court Explain and example
Highest court in the state and deals with the more serious criminal and civil cases
Children’s Court
Deals with cases involving children and young people
Eg. Child protection
High Court
Deals with the appeals from the state or territory Supreme Court and this courts decisions are final. Their laws apply to the whole country
How do we ensure everyone is treated fairly? Example: Using a different oath for people who observe a non-Christian religion by taking an oath on the Koran or Torah

- Not observing someone based on their religion
- Not observing someone based on looks
Explain the process of arrest for a juvenile
1: Commit and accused of crime

Why is it meant by the terms being Australian and being Un- Australian
- Means to respect the laws and culture and to give a ‘fair go’
- Un Australian means to be the opposite eg. Not voting, racism
