Law 3: The Law of Mirror Flashcards
What is one of the main reasons many people fail to grow?
Low self-esteem. Many people do not believe in themselves.
Nathaniel Branden, a psychiatrist and expert on the subject of self-esteem.
Irrefutable (adj)
impossible to deny or disprove
Ex: “irrefutable evidence”
Why shouldn’t you become too concerned about what others might think of you?
You should be more concerned about what you think of yourself.
Strategies to build your self esteem:
Strategy 1: Watch the things you say to yourself. Why?
Because you will start to believe these things.
Strategy 2: Stop comparing yourself to others. Why?
Either you perceive the other person to be far ahead of you and you feel discouraged, or you perceive yourself to be better than the other person, and you become proud. The only person you should compare yourself to is yourself.
What should your daily mission be?
Become better today than you were yesterday.
Strategy 3: Don’t have any limiting beliefs.
Don’t put any limitations on yourself. The greatest limitations people experience in their lives are usually the ones they impose upon themselves.
Agnostic (N)
a person who denies or doubts the possibility of ultimate knowledge in some area of study.
When a man has put a limit on what he will do, he has put a limit on what he can do.
It isn’t what you are that holds you back; it’s what you think you’re not.
Inordinate (Adj)
Unusually large
Ex: A case that had taken up an inordinate amount of time.
Strategy 4: Add value to others. Why?
Adding value to others makes them value you more. It creates a cycle of positive feelings from one person to another.
Strategy 5: Do the Right Thing, Even If It’s the Hard Thing To Do. How does this build self esteem?
You simply didn’t take the easy route.
