What are the two types of law and their definitions
Criminal law-between the state and an individual who commits a crime case quoted as crown vs surname
Civil law- disputes between two private parties not involving breaking state law. Case quotes as surname vs surname
Jurisdiction
Means the type of of cases the court hears

The ranking of courts from lowest to highest

Supreme Court -most serious criminal and civil cases
District court- moderately serious criminal and civil cases

A public officer who is appointed by the government to hear and try cases in a courtroom
Trials
Part of the courtrooms procedure where innocence or guilt is determined
Magistrate
Similar to the judge but less authority
Jury
Is a body of people sworn to give a verdict on a case presented to them in a court of law
Summary offence
Are considered minor but still serious offences and a magistrate in the magistrates court determines sanction
