Laurent Clerc cofounded the first deaf school in America, the Hartford Asylum for the Education and Instruction for the Deaf and Dumb. He helped set the foundations for American Sign Language. Deaf man from France

He was born on December 26, 1785, and died on July 18, 1869, at the age of 83.

He fell from his high chair into a fire and got sick which caused hime to become deaf. He had touch and sight.
