What temperature setting should be used in a load of laundry filled with these colored towels?
Colored laundry should usually be washed on a COLD setting. If the laundry is very dirty, then it is sometimes ok to use a warm setting. You should never wash colors on a HOT setting.
Is it good to use Bleach in the laundry when washing colored clothes?
No. Bleach is a chemical that is used to whiten and disinfect. It can permanently remove color from clothing and fabrics.
What are the steps to follow for washing clothes in the washer machine?
- Sort laundry into bins
- Add laundry detergent to the washer using the measuring cup
- Select the correct temperature
- Select the correct wash cycle
- Put the clothes in and shut the door
- Start the washer machine
What are the steps to follow when drying clothes in the drying machine?
- Take out the lint filter and clean out the lint
- Move the clothes out of the washer and into the dryer
- Put a dryer sheet into the dryer
- Select the temperature and time
- Close the door and start the drying machine
What should you check before putting pants, jeans or shorts into the washing machine?

Does Laundry detergent go in the Washer or the Dryer?
What does Laundry Detergent do?
Laundry Detergent goes in the WASHER
Detergent is a cleanser that attaches to dirt and removes it. It works a little different than soap, but they are similar in that they both remove dirt and grime.
There are two types of Fabric Softeners.
Name the two different types, and whether they go in the washer machine or dryer.
The two types are LIQUID and DRYER SHEET
The Liquid Fabric softener is added to the washer at the end of the washing cycle.
The Dryer Sheet is added to the dryer at the start of the drying cycle.
You generally only need to use one type of Fabric softener.
If you have a load of very dirty white shirts, what temperature should you use to wash them?
Is there something else you can add to the washer to help clean and brighten the white shirts?

You can add bleach to the washer for white fabrics that are stained or need whitening.
If a piece of clothing gets dirty and the label says “Dry Clean Only”, how should you wash it?
Take it to the DRY CLEANERS.
Clothes that say “Dry Clean Only” should never be washed in a washing machine.
Why is it important to remove your clothing from the Dryer as soon as possible after the buzzer goes off?

How often should you wash your bed sheets?
Bedsheets should be washed every 2 to 3 weeks. If there is a large spill, the dirty bedsheets should be washed immediately.
How often should you wash your bath towels?
Bath towels should be used no more than 2 to 3 times before being washed.
When you are not sure which temperature setting to use on the washer, you can check the tag on your clothes for the CARE SYMBOL. What do these Care Symbols mean?
- Machine Wash Normal - ANY temperature (no dots)
- Machine Wash COLD (1 dot)
- Machine Wash WARM (2 dots)
- Machine Wash HOT (3 dots or more)
When you are not sure what Washer Cycle setting to use on the washer, you can always look for the CARE SYMBOL on the clothes you want to wash. What do these Care Symbols mean?
- Permanent Press Cycle (one line)
- Gentle or Delicate Cycle (two lines)
- Hand Wash only (hand symbol)
- Do Not Wash in Washer Machine (X symbol)
