Jupiter, king of the gods: story summary
Jupiter’s father Saturn was the king of the titans but whenever his wife, Ops, gave birth he ate the child, in fear of them overthrowing him. However, Jupiter was hidden by his mother and, instead, she gave Saturn a rock to eat. Jupiter grew up in secret with his mother. One day, they gave Saturn a drink that made him throw up all the children. Together, Jupiter and his siblings overthrew their father and Jupiter became the king of the gods.
Minerva’s birth: story summary
Jupiter feared his children would overthrow him like he had done to his father. To prevent this, he ate his wife Metis while she was pregnant. Metis was not happy. She gave birth inside of Jupiter and her and the daughter started giving him headaches. Jupiter ordered Vulcan to axe open his head to stop the headaches. When Vulcan cut open Jupiter’s head, surprisingly a fully grown goddess dressed in armour, ready to fight, sprang out. Her name was Minerva.
