Falsetto
Singing in a voice higher than the range of one’s natural voice
Polyrtythms
Several interlocking rhythms being played or sung simultaneously. Example, jeopardy TV show music
Gruttural
Raspy, hoarse, growling type of voice. example : James Brown
Improvisation
To spontaneously make up or create melodic ideas based on a pre existing harmonies or chords of a song it is called soloing.
The voice
Soprano: Highest sounding femalr voice
Alto: Lowest sounding female voice.
Tenor: Highest sounding male voice
Bass: Lowest sounding male voice
Collective improvisation
When instrumentalists/vocalists improvise all at the same time
Big Band
A jazz ensemble (group of instruments) consisting of a brass section (4-5 trumpets; 3 trombones and a bass trombone (French horn and tuba are optional); a reed section consisting of 2 alto Saxes, 2 tenor Saxes and a baritone sax; a rhythm section consisting of a piano, bass and trap drums (guitar optional)
