Stop food or liquid entering the trachea
Describe the attachments of the arytenoid cartilages
Attach to the vocal cords anteriorly and intrinsic muscles of the larynx laterally
Causes of hoarseness of voice
Infection, GORD, Benign lessions, Neuro-muscular weakness, Damage to the recurrent laryngeal nerve
Sites where the recurrent laryngeal nerve can be damaged
Lungs, Thyroid, or oesophagus
Causes of obstruction of the larynx
Oedema, Foreign bodies, Tumours
