Degrees celcius.
What is rainfall measured in?
Millimetres (mm)
What exception is there to rainfall measured in?
When it is less than 0.05mm, it is recorded as ‘tr’ or ‘trace’
What is daily total sunshine?
The hours of sunshine in a day recorded to the nearest 10th of an hour.
What is wind speed measured in?
Knots.
How else can wind speed be categorised?
The Beaufort scale:
<1 knot = 0 = ‘Calm’
1-10 knots = 1-3 = ‘Light’
11-16 knots = 4 = ‘Moderate’
17-21 knots = 5 = ‘Fresh’
What is the daily maximum gust?
The highest instantaneous windspeed recorded on a given day.
What is the daily maximum relative humidity?
It is given as a percentage of air saturation with water vapour.
What is cloud cover measured in?
Oktas (how many eights of the sky is covered by clouds).
What is daily mean visibility?
The greatest horizontal distance at which an object can be seen in daylight.
What is daily mean visibility measured in?
Decametres.
What is pressure measured in?
hPa (hectopascals)
