What type of display does many of the laptops use today
LCD liquid crystal display
What are 3 advantages of LCD?
Lightweight, relatively low power, relatively inexpensive
What are 3 disadvantages of LCD?
Getting black on a display is difficult, different backlight so difficult to repair/replace.
What are the 3 different LCD technologies and explain them?
TN LCD, (twisted Nematic)- fast response time so good for gaming. poor viewing angle as color shifts.
IPS LCD, (in plane switching- Best colour representation, good for graphics. slightly more expensive than TN.
VA (vertical alighnment) LCD- Slower response time than TN. good color represenation. good compromise between IPS and TN
What is OLED?
Organic light emitting Diode= Emits light when provided with a current. Organic means creates own light when provided with power. On tablets, phones/smart devices. has great colour representation/
How are laptops used on wirless networks?
Wifi Antennas- connected with wires from display to motherboard.
A LCD needs some type of light behind the system to shine through so we are able to see the images through the screen. Older laptops need flourescent light. What type of backlight we use today and why?
LED- more thinner, less space,
What are inverters?
Flourecent require ac power but laptop using DC power so this converts it so can power Flourecent back lights on display

so pen can write on screen
