noun
a noun is a person, place, object or idea
proper noun
proper nouns are names, places, titles, days/months. specific and usually have a capital letter
common nouns
common nouns are more general and doesnt have a capital letter, eg “book”
concrete noun
concrete nouns are things you can see, eg table
abstract nouns
abstract nouns are things you cant see, eg feelings/wind
modal auxilliary verbs
modal auxilliary verbs are only used alongside another main verb, eg will, could, might
adjectives
adjectives describe a noun
adverbs
adverbs tell us more about verbs
verbs
verbs are a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence, and forming the main part of the predicate of a sentence, such as hear, become, happen
pronouns
pronouns identify the subject, object of the sentence
personal pronoun
personal pronouns identify people
possessive pronouns
possessive pronouns state who the thing belongs to, eg- his, hers, its, theirs
indefinate pronouns
indefinate pronouns are not specific to who they refer to, eg something, someone, anybody
