What is preposition?
A preposition is a word or group of words used before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to show place. For example the cat is under the box.
What are some examples of prepositions?
Under Over Through Beside Inside Outside
What is personal pronouns?
A personal pronoun is a short word we use as a simple substitute for the proper name of a person. For example: Me, He, She and They.
What are some examples of personal pronouns?
Me She He They Their
What is a noun?
A word that refers to a thing.
What is an adjective?
A word that describes a quality of a thing (noun).
What is a verb?
A word to describe an action.
What is an adverb?
A word that describes a verb.
What is a simile?
A language technique that compares two things using comparison words such as “like”, “as”, “so”, or “ than”.
What is a semantic field?
A lexical set of words grouped semantically (by meaning) that refers to a specific subject.
What is an onomatopoeia?
The formation of a word from a sound associated with what is named.
Examples: Crash, Tap, Smash and Crunch.
What is a metaphor?
A comparison that is not true in a literal sense.
What is personification?
Apply human characteristics to a nonhuman or inanimate object.
What is hyperbole?
exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.
For example: My plate was titanic.
What is direct address?
A speaker is talking directly to an individual or group.
