Alliteration

Words that are deliberately used to make readers show emotions

Something that is absolutely necessary or required. An order or a command. (eg: Wash your hands).

A reference to another work of literature

Words that sound like the sound they make.
Sibilance
Repetition of the ‘s’ sound or a hissing sound (eg: Sarah’s silly sister).

Purposely repeating the same words close together
Jargon
Special words or expressions used by a specific group
Colloquial language
Informal language, casual, used in an everyday situation
Oxymoron
Comparing/placing two opposite words together.
Irony
When words mean the opposite of what they say, sarcasm.
(etc: the woman spilled her coffee and said “well this day couldn’t be off to a better start.”)
Rhyme
The repetition of similar sounding words.
