Rhyme definition/explanation and example
Def - The ends of words have the same
sound. Usually at the ends of lines
in poetry, but may be internal
(within a line).
Example -
That second day they hunted ME
From hill to plain, from shore to SEA. Then BILLY who was SILLY

Rhythm definition/explanation and example
Def - A regular pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables.
Example -
I WENT to TOWN to BUY a PHONE. On the ROAD there’s a GIRL with a BIKE.
Metaphor Def & Effect
Direct comparison of something to another the reader will know
Effect - can visualise object clearly due to comparison drawn
Personification Def & Effect
Giving human-like qualities to a non-human thing.
Effect - brings the object to live by allowing us to assign it human aspects.
Hyperbole Def & Effect
Exaggeration
Effect - allows a feature to be stressed for effect and can emphasise the mood.
Simile Def & Effect
A comparison using ‘like’ or ‘as’
Effect - increases the reader’ understanding of something by comparing it to a thing they understood.

Using the fact that some words can be interpreted in two ways
Effect - witty or humorous effect
